The official US Naval Intelligence report states that a third steamer to be sunk by U-513 was said to have been a freighter of about 6000 tons which was torpedoed off Bonavista Bay about the 12th September 1942. The steamer was attacked at night , two torpedoes were fired from the surface.(O.N.I. Note: No sinking is reported in this vicinity on or about the date mentioned ). The KTB entry is confusing, it states the incident occurred on the 10th Sept 1942 in the morning , south east of the bay. Although the log is clear about the incidents timing it finishes with , 'turned away dawn begins', .....at 0902?

The official US Naval Intelligence report states that the fourth and last ship claimed sunk by U-513 was stated to have been a combination passenger and freight steamer of about 7000 tons traveling in convoy with another ship , protected by two destroyers or corvettes. Two torpedoes were shot at her and she stated to burn. According to two eye witnesses , the other ship and the escort fled , leaving the attacked ship to her fate. The action was said to have occurred about the 19th September 1942 , off St. John's. As can be seen the KTB logs this event on the 29th Sept 1942. The British registered ship was the Ocean Vagabond carrying wheat , lumber and sulphite pulp; damaged , she was later sunk by the U-186 south of Iceland on the 11th January 1943.
